Hello! What would you like to explore today?
hi. so a friend said something the other day that kind of stuck with me. she basically pointed out that i can never actually rest, like even when i sit down i'm running through everything i should be doing instead. and she's right and i want to look at why that is i guess
ok yeah you kind of caught me. this is definitely a task right now lol. like i opened this thinking okay let's crack the rest problem but trying to actually look at it. when i sit down and the list starts. i think it's more like a pressure? like a low hum that i'm forgetting something. it's not even really words most of the time. it's more like the feeling right before you remember you left the stove on
yeah it did quiet down actually. like the second i laughed it kind of let go a little. so you're probably right that it's not always there what it's protecting me from. hm. my first honest answer is that if i stop then something bad happens. i don't know what. like resting means i've dropped a ball somewhere and it's going to come find me later i grew up in this whole meditation thing with my parents, like intensely into it, and you'd think that would make me good at sitting still but it kind of did the opposite. rest was always supposed to be this Productive Spiritual Thing. you weren't just sitting, you were Doing The Work. so maybe i never actually learned rest that isn't earning something
ok. giving it ten seconds actually. no the hum isn't here. what's here is kind of just. this. me typing, the cat is on the windowsill, it's quiet. there's a little bit of something but it's not the stove feeling. it's more like i don't trust that it's allowed to be this quiet. like i'm waiting for the catch and honestly you naming the trap door thing hit me because yeah. i can already feel myself wanting to be good at this. wanting to nail the not-earning thing. it's kind of embarrassing how deep it goes
she's fine. doing that loaf thing where she's just a blob in the sun. not waiting for a catch obviously lol thank you for this actually. i came in wanting to solve something and you kind of wouldn't let me and it was the more useful thing. i think i needed to see how the reaching just doesn't stop, even here. it's oddly relieving to know i don't have to be good at it
